Which patients with fibrillation should be anticoagulated? Is it safe to initiate ACE inhibitors at home? Is it dangerous to provoke angina with exercise? Should age influence treatment? How significant is cardiac enlargement in a hypertensive patient? Husband or wife - who should sweep the snow off the drive? Should you pay as much for a new stethoscope as for a new golf club? When might you encounter 'chest pain of adulthood' or 'ketchup bottle hypertension'?

This book consists of a hundred questions raised by a GP and answered by a consultant cardiologist. GP readers will readily identify with the situations. The questions range over a wide variety of topics and the solutions offered are filled with much commonsense cardiology. Dr Blackwood and Dr Daily are also the co-authors of What Shall I Do? Questions and Answers in Cardiology, a well-received previous compilation of problems and answers in the same field.

Roger Blackwood qualified at Oxford and Guy's Hospital, London and trained as a cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford and Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto, Johannesburg. He is Consultant Cardiologist at Wexham Park Hospital, Slough and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the Hammersmith Hospital, London. Bev Daily qualified at Charing Cross Hospital, London and moved to Burnham, Buckinghamshire, where he has been a full-time general practitioner for the last thirty-four years.
